Privacy Policy
Your privacy is extremely important to me, and I am committed to keeping your personal information safe and secure. I adhere to all relevant data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. This privacy notice explains how I handle your personal information from the initial contact through to the conclusion of your therapy. I welcome any questions about my data protection policy, which you can direct to me via email at kiachattertonpsychotherapy@gmail.com. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under reference ZB757588.
When you inquire about my counselling services, I collect basic information, including your name, phone number, email, and a brief description of your issue. If you choose not to proceed, I will delete your personal data within six months. Everything discussed in sessions is confidential, except when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others or as required by law. I keep personal details secure, with session notes stored on password-protected devices or stored in a locked filing cabinet, only accessed by myself for the purposes of professional reflection in order to facilitate the therapeutic process. Records are kept for seven years after the end of therapy and are then securely destroyed. You may request earlier deletion at any time. Only in the unlikely event of my death or serious illness, would a colleague access this information in order to inform you and destroy all data in accordance with my Professional Will.
